Richard, Jayda and Jack, as well as Jayda's sister Mal, and her boyfriend Chris (or Peter or Brad or something) come to visit. Jack is the only one that I invited, but he brought the others as an April Fool's day prank. I am impressed that a child barely a year old has the where-with-all to orchestrate such a prank. I wouldn't even have expected that he knew about April Fool's Day.

When they get there I am waiting in an airport full of Italian tourists, all wearing big sunglasses, polo shirts, and Beckham hairdos.

Rich comes running out of the arrivals door with the onboard magazine in his hand, and a bag of candy. Fifteen steps behind, Jayda comes out, with Jack strapped to her chest, pushing a cart-full of luggage. Richard sees me and I wave. He shows me his candy with a smile.

Jack is looking about curiously. For the 20 minute bus ride and the 20 minute subway ride, he is content to look around quietly. I ask him if maybe he wouldn't rather cry for a bit, seeing as he must be tired.

He says, "Don't worry Uncle Mark. I'm going to cry my ass off tonight in the hotel room."
