I go in to work on Sunday morning. It is 5:30am. The world is dark. The old people aren't up walking around like they are on warmer days. It's just me and the ghosts.

There are lights on in the Natural Sciences building. There always are– in the hallways, that is; not the classrooms or the offices.

It seems to be a rule that all buildings should be lit up throughout the night. Some crime prevention measure, I guess. There is no need to save electricity when the university pays its lip service to environmental issues by putting solar panels on all the roofs.

As I get closer to the Natural Sciences building, I hear singing. Discordant singing. It's coming from the building. The window shutters are down, but there is light slipping out of the edges of the windows of one of the classrooms. The students must be partying in the school. Karaoke party.

I enter the building, and walk past the room where the lights were on. It is silent though. Apparently this is not where the singing is coming from. I open the door and the room is empty. I turn off the lights and continue on to the third floor.

The singing echoes through the building, but I cannot find where it is coming from. Usually I would leave the students be, but the singing is just so bad. I go looking for it, and it continues, but there is nobody in any of the rooms.

I even go up to the fourth floor! Where statistics is!

Nothing.

I go back down to my office. Singing continues to echo through the building, but there is nothing more I can do about it. I go in, open my window, and, as I do even morning, fire up my Toner K20– the best karaoke machine made– and start singing hits from Casper Haunted House Tales.
