I go down to the market to get what I need for the pizzas: yeast, kimchi, canned pineapples and makkoli.
The makkoli isn't really for the pizza, but you need it to mix with the juice from the canned pineapples. Then you drink it when you are making the pizza.
It is a perfect mash-up.
I invented it years ago; but now the makkoli I buy, Kyoungju Makkoli, sells a pineapple flavoured makkoli. I guess I should have patented it. You win some and you lose some. But I do still win, cause theirs is not as good as putting pineapple juice in the plain makkoli.
There is also mandarin orange flavoured makkoli, and grape flavoured makkoli, but these aren't nearly as good. And there is bean makkoli, but it is one of the most vile concoctions I have ever tried.
I wonder if anyone has tried it with French vanilla.
In grad school once, my friend Mathias got furious at the American Mash-up culture. I think he had seen hazelnut coffee, or vanilla M&Ms.
"Why do they have to mix things? What makes them think that just because we like hazelnuts, and we like coffee, that we are going to want them together? I can eat them separately. If I want them together then I can buy them both. Selling them together just takes away my choice. It's rampant excess consumerism."
I bet he would love pineapple makkoli though.
I wonder if they have kiwi?
